The Cranes Series marks a pivotal moment in my practice, bringing together and synthesizing many of the stylistic elements I’ve explored over the years. Central to these works are the intricate line and pattern work—rendered in rich ochres, golds, and silvers—that have become a hallmark of my visual language.
The influence of Gustav Klimt is especially evident in the opulent, decorative backgrounds, where metallic tones and textural layering create a sense of depth and radiance. Alongside this, the series is shaped by the aesthetics of traditional Japanese and Chinese art, particularly in the compositional elegance and symbolism. The moon, often a dominant presence, adds a sense of quiet contemplation, balancing the graceful forms of the cranes.
Together, these elements create a space where past and present styles converge—evoking stillness, reverence, and timeless beauty.
